Winners Announced in 9th Scottish Annual Beer Awards
The 9th Annual Scottish Beer Awards, held last night at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow Central, revealed the best beers in Scotland and celebrated the exceptional talent and creativity in the Scottish brewing industry.
Over 300 Scottish beers were meticulously blind-tasted by a panel of experts at an all-day judging event. This year’s competition reflected the diversity and innovation thriving within Scotland’s brewing scene, with beers evaluated on a range of criteria, including appearance, aroma, and, most importantly, taste. The judging process is renowned for its rigour and impartiality, and the panel carefully scored each beer.
The Scottish Beer Awards have become a cornerstone event for the industry, offering a platform to recognise and celebrate the excellence and innovation of Scotland’s brewers. Winning a medal at these awards is a significant accolade that brings prestige and recognition to breweries both large and small, highlighting the quality and craftsmanship of their brews.
The most coveted prize of the night, Scottish Brewery of the Year, was awarded to Stewart Brewing. The judges praised the brewery for its impressive transformation from a small local operation into a large, well-structured organisation, positioning itself to compete with the bigger players in the market. They commended Stewart Brewing for its substantial sales growth and forward-thinking strategies to future-proof the business.
Jump Ship Brewing, a rising star in the industry, won the Scottish Small Brewery of the Year award, sponsored by Stainless Steel Vessels. The brewery also took home the Gold Award for Best No Alcohol Beer for their Stoker's Stout, a testament to their innovative approach and dedication to crafting exceptional beers that cater to diverse tastes.
